LADYMIL®,
the milk supplement that
improves nutritional
intake for women during
pregnancy and
breastfeeding.
LADYMIL®
is a preparation based
on cow milk and has
been developed to meet
the specific needs of
pregnant and
breastfeeding women. It
contains the nutrients
that are indispensable
during these particular
stages.
LADYMIL®
may be consumed hot or
cold and is available in
a range of flavours:
chocolate, vanilla,
strawberry and mango.
LADYMIL®
is made up of partially
skimmed milk,
carbohydrates and
vegetable oils to meet
requirements as regards
essential fatty acids
necessary for the
development of the
childs central
nervous system.
The minerals and oligo-elements
contained in
LADYMIL®
have been carefully
selected. As iron
deficiency and anaemia
are frequent in periods
of pregnancy and
breastfeeding, the
formula is rich in iron.
It contains zinc and
vitamin C in order to
optimise the use of iron
and folic acid so as to
prevent megaloblastic
anaemia and to reduce
the risk of disorders
regarding the
neurological development
of the foetus. In
addition,
LADYMIL® contains
inulin, a prebiotic.
Energy
Energy is indispensable
in life as it
contributes to the
continuation of basic
metabolic processes and
to physical activity.
During pregnancy, energy
requirements increase up
to around 75,000 kcal so
as to enable foeto-placental
growth, formation of
maternal tissue and the
reinforcement of the
expecting mothers
metabolism.
In practice, during the
first three months of
pregnancy, additional
energy requirements
amount to 150 kcal per
day. Between the fourth
month of pregnancy and
the birth, additional
requirements reach 300
kcal per day.
During the breastfeeding
stage, they vary
according to the
quantity of milk
produced. An average
amount of 500 kcal per
day is recommended.
While proteins are ideal
for assuring growth, the
principal sources of
energy are lipids and
carbohydrates.
Proteins
Proteins are essential
nutrients: they are
indispensable for the
growth and regeneration
of tissue.
During pregnancy,
proteins are absolutely
indispensable for:
growth of the foetus (in
particular the
development of the
central nervous system),
development of the
placenta, the increase
in blood volume of the
expecting mother (haemoglobin/plasmatic
proteins), formation of
amniotic fluid and of
reserves that will be
used during the birth
and breastfeeding.
During the breastfeeding
phase, they are vital
for milk production and
for maternal
homeostasis.
The
proteins present in
LADYMIL®
are taken from fresh
cow milk enriched
with lactoserum. The
presence of lactoserum
ensures a high
biological value and an
adequate supply of all
essential and semi-essential amino
acids.
Lipids
Lipids are not only an
ideal source of energy
thanks to their caloric
density of 9 kcal per
gram; they also ensure
the supply of essential
fatty acids and
lipid-soluble vitamins.
Essential fatty
acids are those that the
body cannot produce
itself and must
therefore come from
food. The organism
transforms the principal
fatty acids (linoleic
acid and alpha-linolenic
acid) into long-chain
fatty acids, which are
indispensable components
in the structure and
functioning of cellular
membrane (neurones, red
blood cells, etc.).
For these elements, the
baby is directly
dependent on its mother.
It is therefore
important that the food
of the mother be
supplemented with
linoleic and alpha-linolenic
acid, and this in very
precise proportions that
must be rigorously
complied with.
Carefully studied
vegetable oils have been
added to
LADYMIL®
so as to provide
the necessary essential
polyunsaturated fatty
acids.
Carbohydrates
In order to enable
optimum protein use,
carbohydrates must
ideally provide 50% of
all energy.
The carbohydrate mix in
LADYMIL®
is carefully balanced.
It contains slightly
less lactose than cow
milk, making the product
easy to digest. Lactose
is, however, present in
sufficient quantities to
improve calcium
absorption.
Pregnancy
It is recommended to
consume 480 ml (two
glasses) of
LADYMIL®
per day throughout the
duration of the
pregnancy.
480 ml of
LADYMIL®
per day during the few
months preceding
conception enables the
nutritional condition of
the mother to be
improved and therefore
helps to reduce the risk
of retarded
intra-uterine growth,
premature birth and
foetal deformation.
Breastfeeding
Nutritional requirements
during the breastfeeding
stage closely resemble
those encountered during
pregnancy.
By increasing the
quantity of dietary
fibres, the mother will
produce an adapted
quantity of milk and
will maintain her
nutritional intake. The
recommended daily
quantity of
LADYMIL®
is maintained at 480ml
(two glasses).
